Luigi founded the winery in 1933 in the small village of Castel San Pietro Terme, near Bologna.

The Cantine Sgarzi family has 4 generations of winemaking experience and a passion for winemaking that has remained unbroken ever since.

 

The estate has passed from father to son and now the baton is held by Luigi's grandson Stefano.

"After all, wine is a product of emotion and culture. The secret of our success is partly openness to other cultures and partly creativity when it comes to filling a growing market gap."

Today, the whole family works together on the estate: Nadia, Stefano's wife, son Luigi Leonardo and two daughters, Anna and Francesca.
