Heading from Szerencs towards Mád, our eyes are caught by the Old King vineyard, which gradually stands out from the landscape with its terraces of stone upon stone.

The grapes grown here have always been of exceptional quality, but as they did not meet the needs of quantity wine production, the vineyard was abandoned after the Second World War and gradually covered by acacia woodland.

The Barta family bought most of the land in 2003, and the replanting of the vineyard, which continues to this day, began.

The soil of the vineyard is stony, volcanic riolite tuff, with zeolite and red clay.

They strive to use organic methods in their viticulture, making their wines with the minimum of technological intervention and maximum purity.
